Sebastián Sosa has been released from his contract with Vélez Sarsfield. The goalkeeper was accused of sexual abuse by a 24-year-old journalist.

He was charged as a secondary participant but free after paying bail. Braian Cufré, José Florentn Bobadilla, and Abiel Osorio were given house arrest. Sosa's contract was already suspended from the moment the criminal complaint was made known. The Uruguayan had a contract until December 2025. The club communicated the goalkeeper's separation through its social networks and reported that it had "immediate effect" and that the player was no longer linked to the Liniers club. He is the only one of the 4 involved in the case who was granted conditional release on bail. He had signed his contract at the beginning of the current season to complete his second cycle at the club. The player is 37 years old and has had stints at Boca, Independiente, Rosario Central, and Mexico - among others.
