Sonia Rolland and Gaël Faye, both Franco-Rwandan, fled the Great Lakes during the massacres between Hutus and Tutsis which left 1 million dead in 1994. Thirty years later, they remember the exile as the most painful experience of their existence.

The two artists still remember the lynchings in the street and the corpses in the city. They have produced a documentary told at the first person, Rwanda, from chaos to miracle, which looks back on the history of his country of birth. A story of mourning and heartbreak, which the two friends agreed to entrust to Le   Figaro. The film is directed by Sonia Rolland, who was elected Miss France in 2000, and is based on the book Rwanda: A Story of Mourning and Heartbreak, by GaëL Faye. The book is published by Simon & Schuster, priced £16.99, with a print run of 1,000 copies.
