Tuesday marks the official launch of the Olympic torch relay thanks to its lighting in Olympia (Greece), where it went for the occasion in 2012. Anne Hidalgo is of course part of the French delegation.

“It will be a great moment where we will be able to show what we are as a people, as a society,” she declared. The Olympic flame will pass through the streets of the City of Lights for the first time on July 14 and 15, before returning to the capital on July 26, the day of the opening ceremony. The torch will be lit this Tuesday after a perfectly oiled ritual attended in particular by Tony Estanguet, president of Paris 2024, and Anne HIDALGO, the mayor of Paris on France 2. The flame will set foot on French soil on May 8 in Marseille, before ending its journey in Paris on July 15 and 16, before finishing in Rio de Janeiro on July 22. The relay will last for 64 days, ending in Rio on July 28.
