Bologna prosecutors have opened a probe into the Lake Suviana Enel hydroelectric power plant disaster on possible charges of causing a disaster and culpable manslaughter. Seven people are feared to have been killed in Tuesday's explosion and flooding, while five others are severely burned.

Three are confirmed dead while hopes of finding the four missingmen have faded. The investigation is being led by Bologna's chief prosecutor, Graziano Pellegrini. The probe is being conducted by the country's top legal team, the National Commission for the Prevention of Disaster and Culpable Manslaughter, which was set up to investigate the disaster. It is investigating the cause of the explosion, flooding and severe burns at the power plant in the city of Bologno. The national commission is also looking into the possible manslaughter of the victims, which could lead to charges being brought against those involved. The inquiry is being headed by the head of the national commission for the prevention of disasters, Gazziano Pelggi.
