A firefighter died unexpectedly in Memmelsdorf. His comrades and the community reacted with shock and dismay at the loss.
The fire department near Bamberg had to go to a turntable ladder rescue in the Meedensdrof district of the municipality. But there was no rescue at all because the person in distress had already died. As can be seen from a Facebook post from the fire department on April 15, it was a fellow firefighter. "We will always remember you fondly," says the post, under which a fire engine can be seen in a black and white photo. The firefighters then said goodbye to their deceased comrade, Erwin Holschuh, in a post on the department's Facebook page.
