Arne Dahl, the representative of the Swedish crime thriller, returns with “Silent Scream. ” In the interview, the author explains how he came to write and who inspired him.

Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö, pioneers of the Nordic noir genre, showed what a gripping Swedish crime story should look like. The focus is not only on hunting down the perpetrator but above all on the psychological background of the crime. In 2022, Arne Dahl created an impressive conclusion to his Berger-Blom series with 'Zero Equals One.' Now he returns with the character Eva Nyman and the book series 'Silent Scream.' There are at least three more books planned with Eva Nyman as a character. Although I can no longer plan 20 years in advance, there are still books planned for the future with Eva Nyman. For me, crime is always connected to society and its boundaries. Over time, I realized that Henning Mankell's crime novels are good literature and not bad. "It's a great city for a crime novel," says Jussi Adler-Olsen, who lives in Berlin with his wife and two children. "The city is a great place to write crime fiction," adds the author, "but it's also a very dangerous place."
